The world's largest pottery sculpture Foshan was successfully burned

The "Silk Road Starting Point" sculpture, the world's largest ceramic artwork, has successfully been fired in Guangzhou and Foshan. This monumental piece will soon be shipped to the World Horticultural Exposition Park for installation in early April. The artwork features two giant legs intertwined, symbolizing the cultural exchange between East and West. According to the preparatory office of the Xi'an International Horticultural Exposition, the sculpture is not only massive in size but also highly complex in design and craftsmanship. It was created by renowned designer Chen Shaohua and sculptor Hong Bo from the Guangzhou Sculpture Academy, specifically for the event. The sculpture represents the beginning of the ancient Silk Road in Xi'an, making it a meaningful and symbolic centerpiece. One leg of the sculpture is inspired by Chinese culture, adorned with traditional ceramic enamel-painted trousers and tiger-headed shoes, crafted using time-honored techniques. The other leg represents Western culture, featuring black trousers and leather shoes made from modern stainless steel. Together, they embody the mutual support and blending of Eastern and Western cultures, reflecting the ongoing dialogue and cooperation between the two worlds. The sculpture stands 10 meters tall, with the Chinese leg being particularly intricate due to its ceramic construction. The tiger-headed shoes alone measure about 2.4 meters in length and 1.3 meters in width, making them the largest single-fired porcelain piece in the world. Meanwhile, the Western leg is currently being produced in Guangzhou. This unique artwork, which combines traditional craftsmanship with contemporary materials, will serve as a highlight of the Xi'an International Horticultural Exposition. Its placement at the starting point of the Silk Road underscores its deep historical and cultural significance, offering visitors a powerful visual representation of cultural unity and global connection.
