Following the opening of the first BAPE STORE in mainland China in Shanghai in November, A Bathing Ape continued to strengthen its presence in the domestic market in late 2010. On December 30th, BAPE STORE BEIJING was officially unveiled in Sanlitun Village, Beijing. The store launched a special limited sale on the same day, marking another milestone for the brand in the Chinese market.
Located in the northern part of Sanlitun Village, the new BAPE STORE is housed in a four-story building with a panoramic glass façade. The ground floor spans 436 square meters and showcases the latest streetwear trends. Visitors can find collections for men, women, kids, and Ursus at this location. The main entrance is marked by a striking red and blue BAPE logo behind the transparent glass wall, offering an immediate visual impact as you approach the store.
Inside, the design blends minimalist aesthetics with bold branding. The iconic camouflage pattern is featured throughout, from the floor to the walls. A sleek staircase leads up to the first to fourth floors, where the atmosphere remains vibrant and immersive. Alongside the stairs, a two-person hug sculpture adds a unique touch, symbolizing the brand’s connection with its fans.
The interior features a monochrome color scheme, with light gray ceilings, floors, and walls. Stainless steel display units and hanging cabinets are neatly arranged, creating a clean and organized look. In the center of the store, three glass-enclosed spaces stand out, featuring grey pearl zee surface stickers that depict the signature BAPE camouflage pattern, illuminated by bright floor lamps.
Another entrance to the store is located on the basement level of Sanlitun Village, near other IT brand stores. The stainless steel wall here is adorned with a hollow-patterned sticker featuring classic skull-heads and the "GO! APE" logo. Display windows showcase colorful BAPE Shark Parka dolls, adding a modern and eye-catching element to the space.
To celebrate the grand opening, BAPE STORE BEIJING offered exclusive limited-edition products on December 30th. These items were inspired by Chinese culture, with red and yellow as the primary colors. Products included the Bape Sta (RMB 2499), Shark Parka (RMB 3899), and a special edition Autograph Tee (white only, RMB 899). Additionally, a limited Panda Tee was released, featuring Baby Milo and a panda with Beijing-themed elements. The design was both cute and meaningful, capturing the essence of the brand’s playful style.
The interior design of BAPE STORE SHANGHAI was created by Masamichi Katayama, a renowned Japanese designer. Known for his work with A Bathing Ape since 1998, Katayama has also designed spaces for restaurants, cafes, salons, galleries, and banks. His creative vision has helped shape the iconic look of BAPE stores around the world.
